About Us

In the summer of 2021, a group of concerned Solana Beach residents met to discuss the needs of mature adults in our community. This resulted in the establishment of Solana Beach Community Connections, a volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) nonprofit group to assist seniors who seek support to age in place.

Our research identified numerous services in San Diego North County which were not easily found in one place. With you in mind, we designed our website to help you quickly find the resources you're looking for all in one place.

2024 was Solana Beach Community Connections third year of assisting and connecting local seniors. Drawing on the work of a small and dedicated Board of Directors, SBCC has achieved the following:

Made it possible for supporters to make online donations via our website, which continues to be a valuable resource for information regarding dozens of organizations and agencies providing transportation, meals, health and caregiving, social services, and more. It also includes a variety of events and activities that provide opportunities to learn, engage, and share ideas or common interests.
Partnered with Friends of the Solana Beach Library to co-sponsor an ongoing Lecture Series regarding topics of interest to the community.
Initiated a 2024 Summer Lecture Series in partnership with Solana Beach Parks & Recreation at La Colonia Park Community Center.
Sponsored two four-part writing workshops for people who want to "Tell Their Story" in vignettes and reminiscences.
Received a $6,000 grant from the City of Solana Beach and raised $6,000 in matching funds to provide shallow rent subsidies for qualified Solana Beach seniors. SBCC partnered with the Community Resource Center in Encinitas to administer the grant.
Initiated a monthly bilingual Game Day at La Colonia Park Community Center in collaboration with the City of Solana Beach Parks & Recreation Department and the Let’s Play a Game Foundation.
Partnered with Del Mar Community Connections to present a seminar facilitated by the FBI about scams which victimize seniors.
